Some of the most literal translations came from Versace with it's pastel water scene prints and studded sea creatures..
Love this! The gold studded seahorses are chic yet playful.
I wore this dress for one of my Good Morning America appearances in February!
Versace's closing look was a beautiful crystal-encrusted mermaid dress. I could just see Darryl Hannah in wearing this in Splash (one of my favorite 80's movies) lol!
Another very literal take was from designer Mary Katrantzou with her vibrantly colored sea scene prints.
Who else could take a school of fish and make it fashion? Brillant!
Peter Pilotto showed a couple of ocean-wave printed dresses in a full-on water moment during the Spring 2012 show.
And incorporated scuba silhouettes in other looks..
More after the break!!
A disco mermaid if you will..
But seriously the exaggerated peplums and wave folds are great fashion interpretation of mermaids and water. And let us not forget the piece de resistance - the shark necklace!
Over at Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld actually built an underwater set to show his designs:
Chanel Sea-shelled clutches!
And Armani captured the feel of the ocean with the use of luxurious flowing fabrics in vibrantly hued blues.

Kiss
